playing on friends realm, died, get back stuff gone

i was playing on my friends realm when i got killed by a baby zombie. i was about 100 to 150 blocks from my house. i was the only person on and when i got back to my death site, all of my gear was gone. nothing was left. i did pick up my 7 levels of xp inside of my house next to my bed which is weird.
