Small endstone islands appear after removing part of the main end island

I am slowly removing the central end island for a project I am working on, and after I log out and log back in, these small endstone islands reappear after I have already removed them. They always appear in the same spots as before, but they are appearing only after I disconnect and reconnect. I have seen someone else have the same problem as me, but have not found any solution.
