When your creating a skin and you finish if you come out of Minecraft when you go back in your custom skin is a Steve? Fix it in the next snapshot please

Like as I leave Minecraft or I go in a world with the new skin I just made ALL I HAVE IS A STEVE!!!!!! UGGGHHHH THIS BUG HAS BEEN HERE SINSE 1.16!!! And I don't know if its in even lower versions!!!
