redston dust

i put a redstone dust line together with redstone repeater and when i turned on the redstone dust, the redstone repeater kept turning one after the other until it got to the piston but the piston did not open when i approached the place of the piston o redstone repeater turned on and the piston opened but when I'm some distance away from the redstone repeater it won't turn on that's a bug**++
