Wet sponge blocks occasionally disappear when placed in the nether.

I placed a wet sponge in the nether to dry it, then tried to break it, there were no graphics or sound of it breaking but then the game froze for about 2 seconds then the block disappeared. I started with 20 sponges and lost 3. I was playing single player on Bedrock beta 1.17.10.20. Any questions feel free to contact me!
