says tool is too expensive when disenchanted

so i've been playing minecraft for a while and I decided to get sharpness 5 and I decided to disenchant my sword because it was saying it was too expensive to upgrade so I disenchanted my sword and reenchant it but then it still says that it's too expensive as though i didn't disenchant it at all
