Switch error code Crossbow

Can't log-in to Microsoft account. on my switch  When I try to I get an error code Crossbow which means I can't access realms and online play.  I can still play offline.  I have already tried restarting the game, restarting the console, repeatedly logging in (but it doesn't work), archiving the game and then re-downloading it.  Last night my Nintendo online membership expired so I bought a new annual subscription as soon as I got a message that my account had expired.  I don't know what version 1.16.221 Hotfix is but I selected the first option in the drop down menu because I couldn't submit this without choosing something.
