trident killers dropping armour and weapons

I recently built a gold farm that utilizes a trident killer to kill the pigmen. I noticed that the chests were filled up with gold swords, but this shouldn't happen because the player needs to kill the mob for it to drop armour or weapons. When going into a creative world to test this out, it yielded the same results. Putting skeletons in a trident killer drops bows and armour. Is this a new feature?
