Elytra momentum issue

So here's some screenshots, basically if u land on a ledge and fall off, then quickly reply, you will have the momentum you had when you first hit the ledge, before you landed.  The first two screenshots aren't me doing it, it was too hard to do the maneuver and hold my phone.
