Blocks disappear for a few seconds after being placed

Whenever I remove a particular block and place   a new one, it disappears. Sometimes, the block that got deleted replaces the new one. For example, if I put concrete and replaced it with terracotta, after a few seconds, the concrete reappears again and replaces the terracotta. When I put other blocks, seconds later they disappear
