Unable to connect to multiplayer world

Every time I try to join my friends or they try joining me it says "unable to connect to world". I have a Microsoft account. I deleted the game and reinstalled it but that didn't work. I also tried changing the wifi and resetting it but that didn't help. I can only join LAN games. I bought the game to play with my friends so please help me
