the end killed me right when i went through portal

i was on my way to the end with all my netherite armor and tools. as soon as i went through the portal, the screen went black and it said i died from falling out of the world. this happened right after the 1.16.220 update. i lost all my stuff that i worked so hard to get. also lost all 20 of my levels. i am very much furious
