Frame rate issues

Hi. I've had a realm with some friends for a month now. I always played minecraft with all my graphical settings maxed out and I always had 60 FPS. But when I updated my game, it was ver laggy, even if all my graphic options were lowered. I haven't seen anyone else talk about this yet, so I'm starting to worry. Is this a known issue?
