Spawning in different place when entering Nether portal

I was going to Nether through the portal, but when it had finished loading I spawned more than 1500 blocks away from the closest portal. There wasn't any new portal there. It was completely unexplored area. This has happened twice now and I came to the exact same place both of the times.
