Horse has lead attached to himself

Friend rode off with a horse at the same time I broke the lead off of its fence (don't know if this caused it) Afterwards, the lead was attached to himself and I have no way of getting it off of him. Cant put anymore leads on him to attach him anywhere, but can still ride him.
