nether portal

I built 5 Nether portals in a world I've been working really hard on,
but every time I go through them I always end up in a cave with a Nether portal that I didn't make.
so then I break them and think the problem is fixed, then I go through the portal again and end up in that same cave.
so now its just become a cave full of broken Nether portals
