every time i place a painting it just disappears.

i made a painting and i know that when i place it something is supposed to pop up in place of it. except every time i place a painting its just invisible. ive tried everything i know to try and nothing fixes this. i can still break the painting and get it back in my inventory, but when placed its completely invisible.
