There is a certain glitch with villagers

Why do villagers walk through glass panes? I was building something in creative yesterday, a glass house and spawned in villagers in a one block passge way surrounded by joined up glass panes. but they just seem to walk right out if I punch them or do nothing. Can you pls fix this ASAP.
