Small dripleaf changes water colour while holding it

I was messing around on the latest beta when I discovered a very weird and interesting bug. When I hold the small dripleaf and aim at a physical block that is also next to a water block (looking through the water) the water colour changes to a different blue shade. Saving and reloading the world fixes it but does not prevent it from happening again. I have not tested it on another device but I have tested it multiple times on my series x and it happens every time.
