Wont let me join friend on ps4

It will not let me join my buddy on ps4. It always says unable to connect to server. I was hoping you guys could look into this situation on play station. We are both on play station, so it shouldn't be a cross platform issue I mean I don't think I'm that stupid. But I have googled it and no one has an answer even your confusing website doesn't have any answers.
