Stronghold End Portal teleports me to the Void

So, I'm going about my day trying to gather up some end stone, and I had just gone back through the main end island portal back to the stronghold to grab my enderchest, and when I go back through the portal in the Stronghold I find myself at the outer end islands, (i can tell because I saw chorus trees), in the middle of the void. I try to fly up but I take 3 ticks of damage and Im dead. So i respawn and go through the stronghold portal again and end up on the main end island on the obsidian platform as intended. I touched 0 buttons on my controller going through both times Im not sure how this happened.
