Friends can't see skin

I have a skin made from pieces supplied in character Creator. I can see my skin and my friends skins perfectly but they see me as generic Steve or Alex. We've tried switching off trusted skins only and that did nothing. They can see classic skins I wear, just not skins made using the character creator
