Press Y to toggle Immersion does nothing in HP Reverb G2

I can load Minecraft ok while using my HP Reverb G2 , and see the splash screen fine in VR but  on generating or loading a world am then presented with 'Press Y to toggle immersion'

Pressing Y does nothing at all
