can't craft sticks from Bamboo

can't craft sticks from bamboo when you put them in the crafting table. shows up red. Same thing for planks.
The crafting system for wood is very broken. i've tried every form of wood and it only works on buttons and pressure plates. can't craft from leather either. apparently lots of things are broken today.

while i'm on the topic, the textures are weird too. everything seems to be in one corner of the block by one pixel.
