When i log off after playing and then get back on later i spawn in with nothing in my inventory and when i go search for my items, they've disappeared.

After I'm finished playing Minecraft for a bit, and later I get back on i spawn with nothing in my inventory even though I previously had items in my inventory. When I go to check back where I may have possibly died or where I was before I closed out of the game and saved the items are completely gone and of disappeared, this is the second time this is happened and I have no idea what could possibly be causing it.
