Powered rails and rails for mine cards bug out when placed facing the z-axis next to each other

• While attempting to make a redstone contraption I placed rails side by side facing the z-axis, no matter what I did they always connected to each other to face the x axis. I'm not sure if this is a bug but it is quite a nuisance.
