Too expensive

I had a pair of boots that were fine with pretty good enchantments (forgot exactly what they were) which i could still add enchantments to. But when i renamed them it started getting "TOO EXPENSIVE" and when i grinded them to give them new enchants it still said too expensive even tho there was nothing on them
