Can't craft any items

This is an MCPE on my second device. I bought it so there should be no problem with installing on another device, right? It was working for quite a while but when this latest update came, I can't craft anything. I have complete materials but the it shows red on the crafted material. Example, the crafting table needs 4 planks. I placed them but then the crafting table image at the bottom is higlighted in red. I tried uninstalling and installing again, clearing cache, but nothing helped. Please help with this one.
