addon textures are oversized

So I have a gun mod and some of the item textures are 32x. (note these are not models they are 2 dimensional items) the gun mods itself works fine but when I hold on of the items the item scale is way too large and if the item has a 64x texture its bigger than the player itself, how do I fix this
