I think that time stops for plants

I had plant some kind of plant seeds in my spawn area and some days after that i wanted to travel very far away from my first spawn area, when i returned back (after 2 real hours of playing) my first plant seeds did not grow. this is a bug or a feature? i hope that i have describe enough my problem because i dont know if screenshot is needed.
