Curse of vanishing cause entire inventory to disappear

I was mining underground with a diamond shovel with curse of vanishing. I was killed by a zombie who picked up my armor. When I returned, I killed the zombie who dropped my armor but I did not see any of my inventory items. Yes, I was there within 30 seconds of death so I shouldn't have despawned. I at first figured maybe the zombie picked the items up but of course he only dropped the wearable items. I figured maybe the items clipped into the wall since I'm underground so I went above ground in those same coordinates yet they were not there. I am a bit confused since to my understanding, only the cursed item will disappear however my entire inventory did. I lost my fully enchanted netherite pickaxe, axe, sword, and shulkerbox.
