Minecraft exits server when app in backround

Hello, figured I'd report this pretty annoying bug. If I am playing in a server and go to the android home screen or switch apps, once I return to minecraft I will be at the server selection screen in minecraff thus exited from the server. I notice that this issue does not occur in the previous 1.16.100 version. In that version I can switch apps quickly and return to minecraft and I would still be in the server.
