Unable to utilize friends tab

Since the newest 16. Update i havent been able to use my friends tab at all. Its difficult for people to add me & for me to add them. Im unable to invite friends to my worlds although i did select the option before creating the world. If a friend decides to invite me to their world it doesnt pop up on my end. I have a Microsoft account & im signed into it, im stumped & i just want to play with my friends...
