Place blocks vertically without seeing them

• When pillaring upwards, you can fall off the tower, yet continue to place blocks. You can't even see the blocks or where you are placing them, but they keep being placed. In order to get this to work, you have to continue to  jump and keep holding the right mouse button, even after you fall off. This is all while slowly moving backwards. I tried going forwards but was unsuccessful in getting the same results.
