Render distance has been reduced

When I first got my XBox (2017) my render distance was 22 chunks. It has been reduced to 14 chunks as of the recent update. Totally kills the immersive experience that drew me to the game in the first place. I always assumed that render distance would go UP as the game continued to develop, but here we are.
