Ink sacs in realms most of the time don´t work as intended. Either you cannot convert it to black dye or it is unable to dye blocks such as terracotta. Though, it dyes beds black as per usual. It also works completely normal on regular multiplayer worlds. Yes, I have used a crafting table.
