Stuck on Locating Server/Building Terrain

I looked around before creating an issue, and the problem I have was resolved with a bug fix update. Every time I try to join a friend on a world, it becomes stuck on the screen "locating server." Same goes for my friend's realm, as it's stuck on "building terrain." I've tried restarting my phone and unplugging my Wi-Fi router box, and nothing seems to be working. We decided we would wait for an update until we wrote a complaint to see if that would help, but it didn't. I'm not sure what to do at this point, and help would be very much appreciated.
