Marketplace will not load on the Nintendo switch

I have a decent internet connection. But when i try to load the marketplace on my switch, it just does not load. I had waited for about 5 minutes now on the loading screen but it still doesn't load. I don't have a really good internet connection but why do we need such a good connection to load the marketplace? FYI I can play on servers without lag with my decent internet connection. I just don't get why it takes this long.
