Stuck on solid red startup screen

When I try to turn on Minecraft it starts to load but gets stuck on the solid red screen.  It occasionally flashes black and white.  I believe this started when the 1.16.200 update automatically downloaded.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game already.   :<
