Riptide Fall Damage Stacks

When using Riptide on a Trident during rainfall, you can go forever, but the fall damage stacks up, which it shouldn't, in this video I have Feather Falling 4 and fall about 20 blocks but I would still die. https://youtu.be/8N3OeNncBcM
