Daylight sensors still active despite set to night time during the day

While building in creative in a mesa/desert mix biome I placed daylight sensors on Redstone lamp and set them to come on at night. I did a 4x2x1 setup of Redstone lamp with the daylight sensors on top of each one . The setup worked for about 3 in game nights till now they are always on during the day. 
To repeat place 8 Redstone lamps in 2 wide by 4 long by 1 think and set your day light sensors on top of each one and set for night and you should hopefully see them stay on during the day.
