No color!

I have no idea what versions means, but I have an issue where when I start minecraft, I can see the blue sky, the color of the animals and the color of the blocks particles being destroyed, but not the actual blocks. They are all just black and it is like I am walking on nothing. Please help. I want to play Mine craft again.
