kills me and says i fell from a high place when I was standing still

I was endbusting on my friend's realm and searching the city before going to the ship. i had just killed a shulker and was on a platform and decided to check my inventory. suddenly out of nowhere i just died. nothing was near me and i didn't fall. the death message said i fell from a high place.
