Crash when trying to join external server

Hi. I will try to join an external server and the game will go to connecting to external server then freeze on generating world locating server. What do I do to fix this? The 2 phones I've used are a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime and a Hot Pepper VLE5. I have uninstalled, cleared data, and deleted the settings file in the minecraftpe folder. I can't even get the log file to see what is going on.
