Floating zombie villager killed me telepathically

Was being followed by a zombie villager that I wanted to put in a holding cell for healing. But before I can make it there a creeper came up behind the zombie and exploded. My character wasn't hit by the explosion, but the zombie was floating about a block off the ground, stuck, and was raising his arms as if attacking. My character about 5 blocks away was taking damage. Tried to run away but I kept taking hits and died. Then I respawned in same area and the zombie villager still was hitting me from afar. It stopped after killing him.

 

Later I slayed a drown in the same corridor and after killing the drown both my character and dog started taking damage even though no mobs were in sight. I logged off of realms immediately, and then logged back in and saw there were two zombies attacking us that were previously invisible.
