Cave Sounds Play Above Ground

I've noticed for a while now that cave noises play above ground even though they're meant to only play in caves below ground.

I'd like to note that in some instances cave noises start playing while standing directly above a cave.

 

Expected results: cave noises play in caves, underground. 

 

Actual Results: cave noises play both underground and above ground. (servers included)

 

How to Reproduce: travers your world for a short amount of time until you trigger cave noises.
