My dog becomes invisible when I break the boat he is in and only reappears when I replace the boat. He also cannot leave the boat.

I tamed a wolf and all was well until he got in my boat, now when I break the boat he turns invisible and you can see his bubbles when he is in water and if I replace the boat and swim around it he appears back in the boat. I can take the boat to other water sources and place it and he will appear in it. I currently have him in a little 2 by 2 water square outside my home.
