Inventory throwing items out when full

While attempting to craft with a full inventory the game begins automatically re-arranging items & throwing items out while hovering over crafting options, this is especially troublesome while crafting near a ravine or in a cave near lava and a stack of valuable items gets forcibly thrown into fire and de spawned.
