Minecraft still laggy on cellular data

Since the nether update on iOS Minecraft will lag if I’m playing on cellular data. Cellular data is enabled in settings as well as in Minecraft itself. The menu screen is at 1-2 FPS and very unresponsive. I can only play on WiFi or if I have a VPN enabled.
