The bug of item in box disappeared

Hi! I have a box that placed far away from my house. So it normally will stay beyond 300 blocks away from me. I put some items there, but yesterday I went check them, I saw most of them has disappeared. I didn't share my world with anyone since June, please help me with this problem thank you so much.☺
